As part of the “Music in the Museum” project, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art presented the concert program “Pearls of Romance” dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Day.Az reports.
The work of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov is a unique phenomenon in the history of musical culture. In his works, he combined all types of musical genre, was able to create images of the most complex historical period and even predict future changes. Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical heritage is multifaceted and colossal – symphonies, romances, cantatas, concert compositions, vocal ensembles, choirs, sacred music, chamber instrumental works, folk art, etc.
An elite evening with music, surrounded by beautiful paintings, creative intelligentsia and youth, and a friendly atmosphere became a wonderful embodiment of the project. The director of the museum is Honored Cultural Worker, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of art history Shirin Melikova, the project curator is laureate of international competitions, photo artist Agdes Bagirzade.
Famous works of the composer were performed by the soloist of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist Farida Mamedova (soprano) and senior teacher of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, pianist Yulia Kerimova. After the concert program, which was met with great interest, guests, as part of a thematic excursion, got acquainted with exhibits representing Russian art in the museum exhibition.
