Elitzur Ramla defeated Maccabi Ramat Gan this evening (Thursday) and advanced to the semifinals of the State Cup for women in basketball. Hapoel Rishon Lezion dismissed Elitzur Holon, A.S. Ramat Hasharon knocked out the cup holder Maccabi Girls Ashdod. Ha’Faul Lev Jerusalem beat Maccabi Haifa and joined the big four in the next stage.

Maccabi Ramat Gan – Elizur Landco Ramla 85:80
The game between the two leaders of the Premier League promised a lot – and it is. The two teams that have not yet experienced a loss this season presented a game that was of high quality throughout, when neither team was able to escape and turn it into garbage time. After a tight first quarter, Ramla managed to escape twice to the double-digit gap zone, but Ramat Gan’s stubbornness, with important steals and baskets by Alice Khatokai, at the same time as Nofer Shalom’s three-pointers, brought her back to business at the break, to which she fell behind 42:35.

Jenny Sims was the main executioner for Ramla, but the attempt to create another escape was created in the third quarter mainly by Daniel Reber and Chalil and Tori. However, once again Ramat Gan proved that it has no intention of breaking, and the impressive and balanced line of statistics between its five players, left it close to the champion with a 59:57 deficit before the last quarter.

Ramla tightened up the defense a little at the start of the last quarter, forcing turnovers on Ramat Gan and taking a 9-point lead, but the tenacity of Shalom and Drew Edelman under the basket kept the hosts within touching distance. And when Nofer Shalom’s 3-pointer came with two minutes to go, she completed a 2:10 run by the locals and put them ahead 76:77.

On her last attack of the game, with a point lead, Sims picked up a critical rebound and went to the line. She was accurate with the first shot but the miss of the second shot fell into the hands of the yellow-black again. They managed to cut the clock and reach the line again six seconds before the end, after a foul on Ofir Lavi. Ramla’s guard was accurate only in the second ball. And Ramat Gan had six seconds to find a three that would force overtime. But the shot for three went out and at the end of more free throws, Ramla raced to the semi-finals with an 80:85 victory.

Scored for Ramat Gan: Edelman 20, Shalom 18, Khatokai 16, Eisner 12, Haddad 11, Berman 3.
Ramla scored: Sims 23, Rothberg 19, Rever 14, Tori 10, Lavi 9, Gut 8, Levitsky 2.

Elitzur Holon – Hapoel Roshlot 100:50
Eden Zipel took control of the game for Rishon LeZion in the first quarter, in which Noa Zlibanski was the only one to function in Holon. Rashlat’s advantage continued to grow as the half progressed, with Tzipel proving that it is one level above the game and leading the visitors to a 25:44 lead at halftime.

If the first half was one-sided, then the second was already really weak. It wasn’t just a game for Zipel, but also for Amit Turner and the rest of Ziv Erez’s quintet, who did what they wanted on the court. It ended with an astronomical result of 50:100 in favor of Rashalz, which also skips to the semi-finals, and can also continue to dream of a treble (after it also qualified for the finals of the Winner Cup).

Scored in the window: Zlibanski 16, Olaola 12, Ben Abu 7, Nesher 4, Meir 4, Vashdi 3, Sharvit 3, Roth 1.
They scored for Rashalatz: Zipel 31, Turner 22, Elbaz 17, Karsh 16, Switch 14.

ace. Ramat Hasharon – Maccabi Girls Ashdod 49:65
Neither team will want to remember the first quarter. Both defenses managed to cancel the opponent’s attacks well (too?), the percentages dropped, and Ashdod finished with an unusual advantage of 6:9. Both teams loosened up a lot in the second quarter, but while Ramat Hasharon managed to overcome Dor Sa’ar’s weak day and generate points from the rest of the five players, Ashdod had no solutions for Tal Yaakov’s weak half. 24:31 for locals during the break.

The second half was more like the first quarter. Ashdod was again halted offensively in the third quarter, on a day when only Daniel Karsh was able to show her good ability. In Ramat Hasharon, Ofir Kasten and Naa Ganor took the game on themselves, and slowly but surely managed to decide it without giving the guests a chance to come back. It was Ramat Hasharon’s second victory over Ashdod in a month, after they also suffered a loss in the league. Tonight, the ticket to the semi-finals of the cup also went to the team that played better and won 49:65.

They scored to the level of: Ganor 18, Sa’ar 15, Kasten 12, Shuster 8, Zvvner 5, Itzhaki 4, Deluti 3.
Scored for Ashdod: Karsh 16, Nechama 12, Yaakov 8, Lev 7, Dayan 4, Orbach 2.

Hapoel Lev Jerusalem – Maccabi Haifa 71:81
Hapoel Lev Jerusalem’s double-digit lead already at the start, turned into a very tight game in the second quarter, after Maccabi Phoenix Haifa managed to stop Alyssa Baron, prevent the Jerusalemites from scoring points and take advantage of Mia Nikolic’s great performance. The turnaround was completed in the last minute of the first half, when the visitors took the lead and finally went into the break tied 28:28.

The third quarter was offensive from both teams, who scored a combined 45 points. Haifa’s quintet players got into the rhythm, but even that didn’t help them against Jerusalem’s Baron and Kebada, who continued to control the pace in the fourth quarter and led Jerusalem to a 71:81 victory that was much more difficult than expected, but guarantees the newcomer from the capital a place in the semi-finals.

Scored for Jerusalem: Baron 31, Kebada 20, Tirosh 11, Kioff 11, Fleischer 8.
Scored for Haifa: M. Nikolich 22, Vazh 12, Odeh 10, Bitan 9, Singer 9, Canaan 9.
