Elmira Marinova from Sofia won the applause of both the jury and the audience on September 19, when it was the second night of the auditions in this year’s edition of the Italian X Factor.
The 17-year-old Bulgarian is one of the participants in the program, which is broadcast on the Sky channel.
For her performance in the second series of the 18th edition, the Bulgarian received the highest score of 9 from the journalists who analyzed the participation not only of the contestants, but also of the jury representatives. With her performance of the song Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo, the Sofia woman became a real pop star. The media called her “the national Dua Lipa”, even though she is Bulgarian, because of her similarities with the world-famous singer. “Elmira has stage presence. It gives you chills listening to it,” commented the media.
“If we don’t take her and she tries out for a foreign X Factor, we’re going to be fools,” said Jake La Furia, one of the music judges. The others are Manuel Agnelli, Paola Yezzi, Achille Lauro, and the host is the star of Italian music George.
Elmira told in good, if imperfect Italian, that she travels every month from Sofia to Italy to take singing lessons with her teacher.
The finale of this year’s edition will be held outdoors for the first time – on December 5 in the beautiful Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples and will be free for the public.
Behind Elmira Marinova’s success is her musical mentor – Dariana Kumanova, who has been working in Milan for a long time and through whose lessons some of the best performers from the San Remo Festival have passed. EL MA has an original song already released in Italy, distributed by Believe Digital. Her song Tired Of Loving You, the lyrics of which she wrote herself, became a real hit and was broadcast by many radio stations in the Apennines. In the creation of the song next to Elmira is Kumanova, who was actually also behind another Bulgarian who participated in the Italian X Factor in 2021. It is about Nika Paris.
Elmira’s grandmother was Georgeta Kaloyanova, daughter of the Russian Jew Georges Endovitsky. Kaloyanova worked for the BNR, but also appeared as an actress with a role in the film “A Citizen Protests” with Michele Placido.
Elmira’s father, Zachary Marinov, is a football referee for juniors. The mother of the young singer is called Elena and always accompanies her daughter abroad. The girl’s brother’s name is Valery.
