X owner Elon Musk believes it would be “interesting” to develop a service own emailalthough this would lead to raising questions about “how messaging works in general”, without specifying whether this is something that is currently being worked on.
Since it acquired the social network of ‘microblogging‘, the X developer team has implemented several services aimed at improving the experience, such as its advanced Grok ‘chatbot’, which is general purpose and free for all users. Another proposal from Musk, such as the dating application X Dating, however, did not materialize.
Mr
Owji, who regularly provides information on the platform, acknowledged in his personal profile that he has an email address @x.com “It’s the only thing” that could stop you from using Gmail.
In response to this approach, Elon Musk acknowledged that his proposal is “interesting” and added that we need to “rethink how messaging, including email, works in general.”
The idea did not faze his followers.and some even admitted to switching more popular services like Gmail for Proton for privacy reasons, a claim a couple of them raised in the response thread.
Another user identified as @rpoo acknowledged that he would “like to have an email address that fits into a simple direct inbox for text messages and abstracts away the annoying, messy threads that are emails.”
“The best thing about email is that it’s a universal management system and compatible with everything, so you don’t have to download a new application, enter a contact or connect with someone,” this person also noted. Musk, for his part, stated that “this is exactly” what the development team had planned to do with this upcoming service, of which he provided no further clues.
Similarly, another user named Alex Finn claimed that the email service would funnel messages sent in this format and send them to the email inbox. The owner of the social network underlined in that case that what was said “more or less” corresponded to his idea of X.
