Automaker Tesla is hiring data collection operators. These will be in charge of using a motion capture suit and a virtual reality viewer to train the Optimus human robots.
This job pays more than $6,000 per month, although there are some physical and height requirements.
Tesla will begin using a small number of Optimus robots for its internal operations next year, and mass production for third-party companies will begin in 2026.
Because of this, the company Elon Musk He has been hiring many workers to train the robot over the past year.
According to the careers section on Tesla’s website, the Data Collection Operator job at the company’s Palo Alto, California, facility involves traveling a predetermined test route for data collection purposes.
Those selected must wear a motion capture suit and a virtual reality headset while performing the designated movements.
Applicants must be in good physical shape, as the job involves walking more than seven hours a day and carrying up to 30 pounds.
They must also measure between 170 and 180 centimeters to fit motion capture gear and be comfortable working in a virtual reality environment for long periods of time, which can be off-putting to some.
According to Musk, the purpose of Optimus is to use them for domestic tasks in homes, but also to take care of older adults, as well as to perform repetitive, boring and dangerous tasks for people. (YO)
