Now he surprises again with a determination that he announced last Saturday to temporarily restrict the reading of tweets and to which he changed the conditions on Sunday.
The social network will limit reading to 10,000 messages per day for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified users and 500 for new unverified accounts, reports the AFP agency.
The decision was made “to remedy the extreme levels of data collection and manipulation of the system,” billionaire Musk explained in a trill.
A decision that is surprising when all social networks have become bitter in a dispute for public attention, and that could mean a drop in the statistics of this social network.

By limiting the number of tweets that can be read per account, Musk seeks to prevent organizations from collecting massive amounts of data that is used in particular to develop so-called generative artificial intelligence (AI) models.
To develop a generative model capable of humanly responding to everyday language requests, these companies must “train” the interface by giving it examples of conversations.
“Almost all companies that do AI, from start-ups to some of the largest corporations in the world, were mining vast amounts of data,” insisted the tycoon.
“It’s pretty galling to have to urgently add a large number of servers just to facilitate the outrageous valuation of some AI startups,” Musk said.

Paola Hincapié, creative director of the El Grifo agency, explained that behind this regulation there is undoubtedly an economic issue.
“Surely he (Elon Musk) must be negotiating with the owners of artificial intelligence to get paid, because the information counts. Nor should we forget that Musk is close to releasing his own artificial intelligence X.AI, with which he is going to bet on many things, ”says Hincapié.
For the expert, artificial intelligences such as ChatGPT use information from social networks to have “more humane, coherent and consistent” conversations.

Twitter is not the only one facing the consequences of the explosion of generative AI and the development of services based on linguistic models.
In mid-June, the Reddit discussion platform raised the prices it charges third-party developers for using the data and conversations posted on the social network.
The decision provoked protests, since until then these platforms had provided access to public data on their site at moderate prices or for free.
To this is added the costs generated by Twitter for the additional servers that it must install to support heavy traffic and the use of the platform by software or bots, but not by ordinary users.
The messages
When users exceed these visit limits, they can continue on the Twitter interface, but they cannot open the tweets of their interest.
“Exceeded rate limit” or “Something went wrong. Try to reload”, are the messages that appear after trying to open the contents.
After the criticism, all Musk did was increase the number of reading levels a bit. Thus raising the limit that was initially going to be 8,000, 600 and 300 daily views.
