Elon Musk Pours Millions More Into America PAC for Midterms

Elon Musk has contributed more than $445 million to the 2026 election cycle, directing tens of millions into America PAC to support Republican congressional candidates ahead of the November 3 midterms.

The world’s richest person has emerged as the midterms’ most prominent individual donor, injecting an additional $77 million into his political action committee during the first two weeks of October alone according to Federal Election Commission filings. That spending places his total giving well above other major political financiers, including hedge fund manager George Soros on the Democratic side and Republican backers such as Jeffrey Yass and Richard Uihlein. Musk’s donations widen the financial advantage the GOP already enjoys over Democrats, with Republican entities having raised $2.1 billion through the end of the third quarter compared to $1.3 billion for Democrats. Furthermore, Bloomberg LP founder Michael Bloomberg contributed about $80 million in September and October to help Democrats in the midterms.

America PAC Field Operations and Spending Across Competitive Congressional Races

The vast majority of Musk’s political expenditures target competitive contests nationwide as the Republican Party attempts to defend its narrow majorities in Congress. Federal disclosures show that America PAC has committed roughly $366 million across more than 30 competitive House districts.

Since August, the super PAC has channeled $43.2 million into canvassing operations alongside $8.8 million dedicated to digital media and text messaging campaigns designed to contact voters.

In state-level matchups, America PAC has spent $71 million overall to boost Republicans in midterm elections, including high-profile Senate races in Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, and Maine.

Texas Senate Clash and the Record Outlays in the Lone Star State

The Texas Senate contest between Democratic candidate James Talarico and the state’s Republican attorney general, Ken Paxton, accounts for America PAC’s largest midterm outlays at $33.1 million. During September, the primary super PAC supporting GOP Senate candidates, the Senate Leadership Fund, received $158 million from Musk. SLF transferred that money to Texas PAC, an affiliate that’s focusing on the Texas Senate race, which has spent $181 million on the contest since September 11.

Musk has used his social media megaphone to criticize Talarico, deriding the candidate as a creep as reported by Bloomberg.

Regulatory Exposure and Potential Congressional Investigations Following the Midterms

Regulatory stakes extend beyond the ballot, as Musk has substantial business and political interests riding on the midterm outcome. SpaceX has racked up at least $6.78 billion in federal work so far through October 8, a figure that excludes classified contracts and some state-funded spending on services such as Starlink terminals and satellite internet service used during disaster recovery.

If Democrats regain control of the House, Musk’s role leading DOGE, the slash-and-burn effort to reshape the federal government, could come into focus on Capitol Hill, with Democrats planning investigations into him for corruption, abuse of power, and taking information. Musk’s companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, the Boring Company, and Neuralink, face federal regulation, while a planned merger between Tesla and SpaceX would also invite regulatory scrutiny.
