New Delhi: Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the world’s largest social media company Facebook, has become the third richest man in the world. He achieved this feat by defeating Elon Musk on Friday. Zuckerberg has moved ahead of Musk for the first time since November 2020. Tesla CEO Musk was at number one in the list of the world’s richest people till March, but now he has slipped to number four. This year his net worth has declined by $48.4 billion whereas Zuckerberg’s net worth has increased by $58.9 billion. Shares of Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms reached a record high on Friday. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg is at third place in the list of the world’s richest people with a net worth of $187 billion, while Musk has slipped to fourth place with a net worth of $181 billion. Zuckerberg is the highest earning rich this year while Musk has lost the most wealth. On Friday, Zuckerberg’s net worth increased by $ 5.65 billion while Musk’s net worth declined by $ 4.52 billion. Zuckerberg has reached third place in the list of the world’s richest people for the first time since November 16, 2020. Then his net worth was $ 105.6 billion while Musk’s net worth was $ 102.1 billion. Tesla shares have fallen 34% this year and have become the worst performing stock in the S&P 500 index. The company has suffered losses due to the global slowdown in demand for electric vehicles, increasing competition in China and production problems in Germany. On the other hand, Meta’s stock has risen 49% due to its quarterly earnings and the company’s AI initiatives. It is the fifth-best performing stock on the S&P 500.
