Elsa Peretti: Bone-to-Cult

Bone Inspirers

The idea of the sculptural amorphous shape of the Bone cuff combines two of the strongest impressions of Peretti’s childhood and adolescence. In the Roman Church of the Capuchins of Santa Maria della Conchezione of the 17th century. she was struck by the skeletons of monks, kept there for four centuries – for the first time Elsa examined so closely the hands of human hands devoid of flesh (hence the name of the famous bracelet Bone – “bone”). This impression was superimposed on the organic plasticity of the architecture of Antoni Gaudi, which fascinated Peretti in Barcelona. As a result, a few years later, the biomorphic, partly anatomical aesthetics of Bone was born, which was immediately created, including in a mirror version – for both wrists, left and right.
