The labor force employment survey for the 2nd quarter of 2024 was announced today by ELSTAT, which clearly shows the decline of unemployment with confirmed quarterly data, for the first time since 2009, to a percentage below 10%.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, “the policy followed by the government in the field of employment is confirmed in this way, since, compared to the second quarter of 2019, a reduction of unemployment by 7.1 has been achieved percentage units’.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos, stated in this regard: “ELSTAT’s labor force employment survey confirms that the persistent effort made by the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis since 2019 to combat unemployment is bearing fruit. For the first time in the last 15 years, with confirmed quarterly figures, unemployment falls below 10%. No rest is allowed. We have now entered the hard core of unemployment. We will intensify our efforts to further stimulate the employment of women, young people, people with disabilities and pensioners.”
