“This is it!” – Elton John ends his farewell tour in Stockholm
Superstar Elton John ends his Farewell Yellow Brick Road farewell tour, which will last more than 300 concerts, in Stockholm. The British pop star has confirmed she will never tour again, but doesn’t rule out a “one off thing” in the distant future.
It was the last concert of his farewell tour: Elton John performed in front of tens of thousands of spectators in Stockholm. He stood on stage for more than two hours – and took the audience on a journey through his creative period.
British pop star Elton John has ended his farewell tour, which may have lasted for many years. At his last appearance as part of the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which included more than 300 concerts, the 76-year-old played many of his world hits again on Saturday evening in the Swedish capital Stockholm, such as “Rocket Man”, “I’m Still Standing” and Crocodile Rock. Also “Candle in the Wind” could not be missing.
“Good evening Stockholm! Well … this is it,” the 76-year-old shouted to the tens of thousands of spectators after his first two songs in Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena. In suits with plenty of glitter elements, sparkling glasses, with the usual strong voice and nimble fingers on the piano, he then took his fans on a journey through his creative period of more than half a century in the almost two and a half hour show. “Playing for you guys was my purpose in life – you guys were just amazing,” the British singer told his audience.
Elton John had already heralded it in September 2018. Since then, it has been repeatedly interrupted due to the corona pandemic, among other things. In total, the British artist has played more than 300 concerts in the USA, Europe and Australia. With the concert tour, he broke several records – both in terms of length and income. According to the BBC, ticket sales brought in almost 816 million euros.

The pop musician had announced that he wanted to step back after the tour in order to be able to spend more time with his husband David Furnish and their two sons. “I’ve had the most wonderful career,” he said during his encore in Stockholm, before concluding the performance with the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”
With more than 300 million albums sold, Elton John is one of the most successful pop musicians of all time. He had countless hits and delighted his fans not only with his voice and his piano playing but also with his flashy outfits. He left it open to what extent he could continue to be musically active in the future.
