Currently, there are 24 Guimarães Rosa Institute units abroad, 13 in Latin America and the Caribbean, six in Africa, three in Europe and two in the Middle East. The new unit is part of an Itamaraty project to unify cultural centers in Brazil, which aims to integrate Brazilian cultural policy, encourage exchange and expand the dissemination of the Portuguese language in its Brazilian variant.
