There is no rest for the Philadelphia 76ers medical department. When it seemed that the team could embark on a phase of recovery and health, but two injuries delayed all plans. One is Joel Embiid, who stops again, and the other is rookie Jared McCain, who has been one of the few bright spots this season.
Starting with Embiid. The pivot had recently returned to the field, after yet another stoppage due to pain in his left knee. This return lasted a game and a half, with the former MVP breaking his nose in last Saturday’s game. The team has announced that the player will be out for at least a week before being re-evaluated.
The season continues to be a nightmare for Embiid who, after participating in the Olympic Games, has played just 11 games in the Regular Phase, again due to his left knee and, currently, an accidental fracture in a ball game.
More serious is the case of rookie Jared McCain, who tore the meniscus in his left knee. The point guard, until then the favorite for the Rookie of the Year award, underwent surgery in recent days and is expected to miss the next two months.
