In the night from Thursday to Friday, the emergency services searched for a missing man in the water at the Papegaaisbolwerk in Leiden.
CCTV footage showed that the man had walked into the Singel. He was not seen after that. The emergency services were then called for a search in the water.
The fire brigade went into the water with a diver. The man was eventually not found, after which the search was discontinued.

No new quest
A spokesman for the Hollands Midden Security Region says that no further searches will be carried out during the day. “We will only do that if a new report or new indication comes in.”
It is unclear whether it is a false alarm, or whether the man may have gone out of the water somewhere else. “These are all scenarios that we cannot say anything about.”
