Doha: A warm welcome was given to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani who arrived in the UK as part of his European tour.
The emir flew to the UK after delivering a keynote address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The Emir met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. The meeting between the Prime Minister and the Emir was held at his office in Downington Street. Bilateral and diplomatic relations between the two countries were discussed.
Ways to strengthen ties in various fields were also discussed. He thanked the Emir of Qatar for the safe evacuation of British citizens from Afghanistan.
Joint opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties were also discussed.
The delegation accompanied by the Emir also attended the meeting. Following the meeting and discussions with the Prime Minister, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Qatar Energy and the British Ministry of Business and Strategic Industrial Energy to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector and strategic investment partnership between the two Governments.
