This is the case of Reason and feelings, an adaptation of the Jane Austen classic released in 1996. Emma Thompson played Elinor Dashwood there alongside Kate Winslet (Marianne) … and Greg Wise (Willoughby). The actress, then married to Kenneth Brannagh, did not know it yet, but she had just met the one who is still her husband today, after more than 25 years of marriage.
However, Greg Wise and Emma Thompson could have missed their romance. The actor was indeed dating Kate Winslet after seeing a clairvoyant, who had assured him that he was going to meet the love of his life on the set of Reason and feelings. Due to age, and the fact that Thompson was already married, he was sure she was talking about Kate Winslet and sought to win her over. With The Express, Greg Wise explained that “Kate Winslet was sure that Emma and I were made for each other. […] It had to happen.” Emma Thompson and Greg Wise married in 2003 and have two children: a daughter, Gaia, and an adopted son, Tindyebwa Agaba Wise, a former Rwandan orphan.
Synopsis – In the last century in England, following the death of their father, the Dashwood sisters and their mother are forced to drastically reduce their lifestyle and leave their property to go into exile in the countryside. The eldest, Elinor, renounces a love which nevertheless seems shared, while her youngest, Marianne, falls in love with the seductive Willoughby.
