Emmanouil Karalis cleared 5.75m in the pole vault qualifying round that took place on Saturday afternoon (3/8) and secured his place for the big final of the event with remarkable ease.
Emmanouil Karalis is ready for very big accomplishments at the 33rd modern Olympic Games and wanted to send the first and loud message in the pole vault qualifying round, which took place on Saturday afternoon (3/8).
This is because he needed just three attempts, all successful, to seal his ticket for the big final of the event, with the holder of the national record clearing 5.60m on his first attempt and then doing the same when the bar was set at both 5.70m and 5.75m.
The qualifying height for the final was 5 meters and 80 centimeters, but he did not need to attempt this height since many were eliminated (31 athletes in total in the qualifying, including the silver medalist from Tokyo, Nilsen, and the 6th place from the previous Olympic Games, Lisek).
Of course, among the athletes who secured their ticket for the final was also Armand Duplantis, with the gold medalist and world record holder easily clearing 5 meters and 75 centimeters and being the absolute favorite to win yet another gold medal at a top event.
