Karalis chose to skip the initial height (5.40m) and start at 5.60 meters, which he cleared spectacularly and well above the bar.

He did the same at 5.70, but the competition did not end because 13 cleared it and Mondo Duplantis passed, resulting in the bar being set at 5.75 meters.

Even there, Karalis had no problem, clearing it cleanly and securing his second participation in an Olympic final, where he was fourth in 2021 (Tokyo).

Karalis is showing excellent form this season. Earlier in 2024, he won the silver medal at the European Championship, the bronze at the World Indoor Championships, and raised the national record from 5.91 to 5.93 meters, setting the bar at 6 meters for the first time.
