Emmanuel Macron received the leaders of the parties and parliamentary groups at the Elysée on Friday. This is the first major political initiative from the legislative elections where the left will go with its candidate, Lucie Castets.

The end of the outing? After greeting the players and organizers of the Paris Olympics, then commemorating the landing of Provence, Emmanuel Macron set the stage for a political comeback. Leaders of parties and groups “represented in Parliament” were invited to the Palace for “exchange methods”, six weeks after the legislative elections, and also as part of the left (scientists, rebels , the communists) held their universities in the summer.

Towards an appointment after consultations

Faced, after his decision to dissolve, with an Assembly without any possible combination of absolute majority, with a government camp in decline, the left which asked Matignon and the extreme right in progress, Emmanuel Macron first called “Olympic interpretation ” one, who postponed the appointment to “mid-October”, following the discussions between the political forces.

“The decision of the Prime Minister will take place as a continuation of these consultations and their decisions,” said the Elysée on Friday. Confirming the implementation process from the legislative elections and which has already resulted, through an agreement on the right with Les Républicains (LR) of Laurent Wauquiez, in the defeat of the left for the President of the Assembly and the reform of the Macronist Yaël Braun-Pivet.

The left, far from the majority, but with the largest number of seats, also claims to form the government. Opposing the “denial of democracy” with the president’s refusal to comply, he tried, despite the Olympics and the summer season, to maintain the pressure to achieve the appointment of Lucie Castets, a civil servant unknown to the public, appointed by Tuntun Elite Front after long and bitter discussions.

To the right to avoid the left

On July 23, during a televised interview, Emmanuel Macron seemed to rule the Castets initiative, which would be a joint approval after seven years of an unlimited presidency. “The question is not the name. The question is what majority can appear in the Assembly so that the French government can make reforms, make a budget and move the country forward,” he said.

To avoid the NFP, the presidential camp is proposing an agreement with the right and part of the center-left which, it is hoped, will break away from the New Popular Front and especially from Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s La France insoumise. Circulating in recent weeks, in this myth, the names, on the right, of Xavier Bertrand or even Jean-Louis Borloo and Michel Barnier, and, in the center-left, of Bernard Cazeneuve.
