This Wednesday, June 21, the cameras are pushed to scrutinize the twenty-five deputies and senators, Renaissance executives, entering rue du Rocher (8th arrondissement of Paris), at the headquarters of the presidential party. In the HQ room, an unusual meeting is held to weigh up the idea of an alliance between the majority and Les Républicains (LR). An appearance of an outstretched hand staged as Emmanuel Macron seeks the recipe for a possible reshuffle.
Each of the elected Macronists speaks, in turn, clockwise. “In a modern democracy, given the threats, we would have a coalition. Not to mention that such a scenario would point the ally François Bayrou. “The majority, it does not think only on the right”recalls Jean-Paul Mattei, president of the MoDem group at the National Assembly. “It’s clear to everyone now. We don’t want it and neither do they.” concludes Sacha Houlié, deputy for Vienne.
