The atmosphere in the La Défense Arena west of Paris is euphoric, confident of victory. The heater known from rugby stadiums does a great job: the hall sings the “Marseillaise” even before the main guest climbs onto the stage. It is the only guest – Emmanuel Macron entertains the 35,000 supporters in US style all alone on the central stage of the boxing ring.
