President Emmanuel Macron wants students “who need it” to be able to return to school “from August 20” to be able to “catch up”, he said in an interview with Point (paid content) revealed on Wednesday evening.
“There are too many vacations, and too busy days. The students we will have assessed, and who will need them, we must be able to bring them back from August 20 to allow them to catch up and we must reconquer the month of June for students who do not pass ‘tests at the end of the year,’ said the Head of State in this interview.
Redesign the programs
The Head of State also announced his desire to “rebuild the programs” of history and civic education, while strengthening “teacher training” in these two subjects. “History must be taught chronologically and civic education must become an essential subject. Each week, a major fundamental text on our values will be read in each class and then debated,” said the Head of State.
