Both the 18-year-old and his father were overwhelmed by their emotions at the event in the Bernabeu.
A kiss on the club crest, a greeting to the fans: for at least a few moments, Real Madrid’s new signing Endrick seemed like a veteran during his presentation at the impressive Bernabeu. Then the 18-year-old stepped up to the microphone, and nerves flashed for the first time: “Good evening everyone,” said Endrick – just before one o’clock in the afternoon.
Shortly thereafter, emotions overcame him as well. During the young player’s speech, chants of his name echoed through the arena, and Endrick broke into tears. He was not alone in this: in the front row sat his father, visibly proud, on a folding chair – already with very teary eyes before his son took the stage.
Club president Florentino Perez must also be just as proud of his new signing, worth around 60 million euros. The 77-year-old embraced the Brazilian on stage and raised the arm of the ten-time national player in the air, as if he had just won a boxing match. “Welcome to Real Madrid,” said Perez. Subsequently, the new striker of the Royals regained his composure, patiently posed for the photographers, and kicked balls into the cheering crowd.
