Madurai: State General Secretary of Tamil Nadu Cooperative Store Employees Union Venkatachalapathy has emphasized that ‘the conflict between government employees and themselves should be removed’.

He said:

It is welcome that the Tamil Nadu government has increased the allowance by 4 percent as an English New Year gift to the government employees.

The increase in the basic price of the government employees will be applicable to the co-operative warehouse office workers and ration shop employees. The government employees and credit cooperative society employees are currently getting 34 percent of the basic price, as a result of this hike announced by the government, they will get 38 percent of the basic price.

But the office workers of the primary co-operative stores running the Public Distribution Scheme and the ration shop workers are currently getting 31 per cent, but with this hike, they can get only 35 per cent as concession. Chief Minister Stalin should order to fix this discrepancy in the subsidy rate within the co-operative sector and give a uniform subsidy of 38 percent to all.

He said this.
