Chinnamanur- -Markayankota The highway department should take steps to connect the old and new bridges across the Mulla Periyar. From Chinnamanuar to Kuchanuar, Ammapatti, Ellapatti, Chinthalacherry, Ayyambatti, Pallavarayanpatti, Koolayanur should pass through Markayankota. Hundreds of vehicles ply this road every day. A bridge has been constructed across the Mullai Periyar on the Chinnamanur – Markayankot road. There is an old bridge on the north side of the bridge. There is a huge gap between the two bridges. People who come on two-wheelers at night often slip into the river. A car fell into the river a few days ago. Both the bridges should be connected and brought into use. When the new bridge was built across the Mulla Periyar at Uttampalayam, they connected the old bridge and made it ‘in and out’. At present both the bridges are in use at Uttampalayam. The Highways Department should take steps to follow the same procedure in Markayankot.
