Employees of the Social Assistance Agency (ASP) will go to a protest rally today. They will state their demands for a salary increase from 12.00 to 13.00 in front of the building of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. The action is organized by the Union of Administrative Employees (SAS) “Support”. From there they say that the Directorates of “Social Assistance” from all over the country will be actively involved in the protest actions, reports BTA.

The conversation about a 30% increase in wages started last year and there was one increase, union president Kremena Atanasova told BTA, who described the pay as insulting. At the moment, employees are appointed at BGN 1,100 gross salary, which is “purely” BGN 850, she said. And she emphasized the lack of measures to attract young staff into the system.

At the same time, the volume of work is extremely large, the activities are increasing, Atanasova pointed out. She reminded that those working in ASP take care of the most vulnerable groups of people – children at risk, elderly people, citizens with disabilities. ASP is on the first line during natural disasters, Atanasova also said.

I was in a meeting with the executive director of ASP. We have received assurances that a way is being sought to secure an increase in wages, but people have already heard many promises, she also commented. And he added that he is ready for an effective strike.
