Île-de-France is home to one of the densest rail networks in the world. On only 2% of the national territory, the SNCF transports 70% of its customers there! These thousands of kilometers of rails, tracks, cables and switches require sustained maintenance, generally carried out in the evening and on weekends. SNCF Ile-de-France networkthe entity that manages all the infrastructure, also leads giant projects, such as the extension of the RER E to Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines), the construction of new trams (T12), the renovation of the RER B or the modernization of the RER C…

To carry out all these operations simultaneously, SNCF Réseau is launching an unprecedented recruitment campaign, which specifically targets residents of the Paris region. 900 positions are open, for track maintenance, railway signalling, management of electrical equipment and cables (catenaries), civil engineering, etc. The communication campaign has agents testify, highlighting the major projects to which they contribute, and which benefit all the inhabitants of Île-de-France.

Recruitment from baccalaureate

“The transformation of the Ile-de-France network is historic, by its scale, by its volume of investment, by the innovations it involves. It is the largest rail project in Europe, and without a doubt one of the most innovative”, emphasizes Séverine Lepère, Deputy Managing Director of SNCF Réseau – Île-de-France. “Our candidates are also travelers,” she adds.

At a time of ecological transition, “these are professions that make sense, because these people are there to intervene in the event of an incident and restore service for the population”. Or build a new train or tram line that will benefit tens of thousands of families.

The technical professions of SNCF Réseau are aimed at those who like to be in the field, in the “operational”. Recruitment begins at baccalaureate level. And the training is paid. “You have to like being in the field, and knowing that you have to work evenings or weekends. Joining SNCF Réseau is a state of mind,” warns Séverine Lepère.

But this availability fortunately has counterparts: SNCF Réseau employees benefit from bonuses, recovery days and have access to the housing stock of SNCF, the largest social landlord in Île-de-France. Subject to means testing, they can finally receive housing assistance “up to 8,300 euros over 5 years”.
