The Estée Lauder Companies to Provide Proactive Breast Cancer Screening Services to Underprivileged Women

In its 30th year of operation, The Estée Lauder Companies is dedicated to eradicating breast cancer worldwide through its Breast Cancer Campaign. The company continues to collaborate with the National Cancer Institute to raise awareness about the dangers of the disease, particularly among women from low-income backgrounds. As part of its efforts, the company is organizing proactive breast cancer screening activities for vulnerable groups, such as prisoners and other underprivileged individuals.

This year, The Estée Lauder Companies has chosen Suphanburi Province as the location for its second proactive breast cancer screening event. Suphanburi has been identified as an area with a relatively high incidence of breast cancer. In 2019, the rate of breast cancer was recorded at 248 cases per 100,000 people. Although the numbers have decreased over the years, reaching 226 cases per 100,000 people in 2022, the province still lacks adequate medical equipment for screenings.

To overcome this challenge, The Estée Lauder Companies has partnered with the National Cancer Institute to request a mobile mammogram service. However, due to the unfavorable circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has decided to take matters into its own hands. The proactive breast cancer screening activities in Suphanburi Province will take place at the Robinson Lifestyle Suphanburi Department Store from July 3-5 and July 11-13, 2023, with a capacity of 40 cases per day, totaling 240 cases over six days.

Vikas Tandal, General Managing Director of The Estée Lauder Companies Thailand, stated that the Breast Cancer Campaign has been supporting the treatment of breast cancer in underprivileged individuals for 30 years. In Thailand, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the campaign. The funds raised during this period have contributed to research, education, and capacity-building programs for breast cancer patients in the country. The collaboration with the National Cancer Institute aims to provide free screening services to underprivileged individuals in various areas, thus raising awareness about the threat of breast cancer.

Acting Pol Lt. Dr. Napa Siriwiwattanakun, Director of the National Cancer Institute, highlighted that breast cancer is a significant health concern in Thailand. In 2022 alone, more than 20,000 Thai women were diagnosed with breast cancer, averaging over 50 cases per day. It is predicted that in 2023, Thailand will see around 22,000 new cases of breast cancer. Early detection is crucial as breast cancer often shows no symptoms in its early stages, making it difficult to detect and treat.

The National Cancer Institute expressed gratitude to The Estée Lauder Companies for recognizing the importance of raising awareness and preventing breast cancer. Their support has significantly reduced the risk of breast cancer and encouraged early detection, leading to timely treatment and reduced healthcare costs. The general public is encouraged to perform regular breast cancer screenings, including self-examinations and medical examinations, to ensure early detection and increase the chances of successful treatment.

The proactive breast cancer screening services provided by The Estée Lauder Companies will take place at the Robinson Lifestyle Department Store in Suphanburi from July 3-5 and July 11-13, 2023. A total of 40 cases per day will be screened, and high-risk cases will be referred to Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital for further assessment. Additionally, in October 2023, a mobile mammography vehicle will be deployed to further support the mission of eliminating the threat of breast cancer.

The Breast Cancer Campaign by The Estée Lauder Companies continues to make significant strides in the fight against breast cancer. By providing screening services, raising awareness, and supporting research and education, the company is committed to ending this disease and improving the lives of women around the world.]
