Empty shelves in the Brexit British – only photos instead of real vegetables – domestic politics

by time news

So what is that?!

Instead of vegetables, some British supermarkets now have: photos of vegetables!

Reason: delivery problems.

In several Tesco markets, empty vegetable boxes have been covered with images of asparagus, carrots, oranges and grapes printed on cardboard. Looks better than yawning empty shelves – but you can’t buy anything of what is on display.

Corresponding recordings have been seen in Tesco markets in Fakenham and Milton Keynes, for example.

In a supermarket in Cambridge it is even more extreme, reports “Metro”. There, a faceplate printed with photos of detergents replaces the corresponding products – you have to look twice to see it. The gap in the range is therefore well covered from a purely visual point of view.

According to “Metro”, Tesco points out that the photos have been in use for months and should only keep “additional space” free for products as placeholders. This has nothing to do with the current delivery problems in Great Britain.

But it is also true that supplies are stalling. As a result of Brexit, the country is lacking truck drivers. Supply chains that are out of whack around the world are also reducing the availability of goods. Since then, empty supermarket shelves are not uncommon.
