Gianluigi Buffon has decided to throw titles at the end of his legendary career, according to reports in Italy.

After a 28-year career and 1,151 matches at club and national level, the 45-year-old goalkeeper has made the final decision to hang up his gloves, as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Buffon left Juventus in 2021 to return to Parma, the club where he began his illustrious career on November 19, 1995, aged 17. Although he had offers from several clubs in his homeland, as well as Saudi Arabia, he decided to stop.

Buffon retires from football having won ten championships with Juventus and one French league with Paris Saint-Germain, six Coppa Italias, one UEFA Cup and many individual titles. The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), which is recognized by FIFA, named Buffon the best goalkeeper in the world for the first time in 2003 and for the last time in 2017. He was named best goalkeeper in Serie A 12 times and was among the few who nominated 19 times for the “Golden Ball”.
