End of life: the Citizens’ Convention says yes to active assistance in dying… What now?

Applause and cries of joy contrast with the seriousness of the subject. At the end of four months of impressive work, the 184 members drawn by lot from the Citizens’ Convention on the end of life have published a voluminous report which will be presented this Monday to Emmanuel Macron. Beyond the desire to open up the possibility of active assistance in dying, citizens advocate massive investments in support for the sick and palliative care. It remains to be seen whether they will be heard.
