The last obstacle has been removed. Max Verstappen is, officially, the Formula 1 champion for 2021. Today (Thursday) Mercedes announced that it is removing the appeal against the results of the race in Abu Dhabi through a letter it has published on the networks.

“Mercedes will take an active part in the committee to improve Formula 1 – for every team and fan who loves this industry. We will monitor the progress of the process and be on hand with the FIA to make sure it does happen. Therefore, we have decided to withdraw the appeal.”
Finally, Mercedes addressed their opponent: “To Max Verstappen Red Bull: We want to express our sincere appreciation for your achievements this season. You have made the battle for the title in the last season of Formula 1 memorable. Max, we congratulate you and your whole team. We look forward to continuing This battle on the track next season as well. “
