End of screening tests for doubly vaccinated travelers

by time news

Double-vaccinated travelers will no longer need to be tested for COVID-19 to enter Canada as of April 1.

The federal government is to make the announcement on Thursday.

A series of border relaxations had already taken place on February 28, when quarantine for travelers was no longer mandatory for vaccinated people.

Unvaccinated travelers, however, still had to undergo a test upon arrival in the country and on the eighth day of their stay, in addition to the 14-day quarantine.

Rapid tests could also replace PCR tests as proof for travelers returning to the country from that date. Rapid tests must be carried out 24 hours before the flight, compared to 72 hours for a PCR test.

Random screening upon arrival of travelers at the airport could also be in effect for all those who are vaccinated.
