The end of the strike by employees of the Fianarantsoa Côte Est (FCE) railway line was announced yesterday by the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology. The Minister, Valéry Ramonjavelo, has made two trips to Fianarantsoa since his appointment, in the space of two weeks, to try to solve the problems and relaunch this line, specifies the ministry.

During the workshop led by the Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Labor and Social Law, on March 2, Valéry Ramonjavelo took the initiative to pay two months of unpaid wages of employees of this state company. It is the ministry that will take charge of this, although its role must be limited to the technical level. According to the instructions of the President of the Republic, the State will also take charge of part of the payments of the pension contributions of the employees.

The establishment of a national committee to relaunch the activities of the railway line was also mentioned. In addition, to solve the technical problems related to the locomotives, an inspection or even technical control was carried out on site. The local authorities, including the governorate, have also promised to provide support to solve the problems and take on the corresponding responsibilities.

The banners which indicate the strike movement of the employees of the FCE line for several months have already been removed. In other words, the crisis is over, but what remains is the sustainability of the solutions proposed and already taken.
