After 55 years in the iconic building in the center of Santiago, the country’s main electrical holding company changes its address to a building with the highest and most modern standards of energy efficiency and sustainability.
More than 1,400 workers from Enel Chile, its subsidiaries and related companies, gradually began the move to the new corporate building in the most modern and sustainable architectural project developed in Chile: Mercado Urbano Tobalaba (MUT).
“The objective is for it to be a milestone that serves as a link between history and the future, strengthening the well-being and sense of identity of the workers with the company, thus contributing to the achievement of new objectives that make it more competitive, sustainable and successful. the management of the company,” declared Giuseppe Turchiarelli, interim general manager of Enel Chile.
The new and avant-garde building consists of 19 floors, distributed in 13,492 square meters of offices, in which the electric company will occupy from the sixth to the last floor (14 in total) of the address Roger de Flor N°2725, in the commune of Las Condes.
Each floor of the new building includes cutting-edge technology with LEED Platinum certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and furniture, plus a series of fittings, which allow you to apply for certification WELL Platinum.
WELL Platinum is a scoring system for buildings and communities that allows you to identify, measure and monitor the characteristics of built spaces that impact the health and well-being of occupants.
If the application is approved, it would be the first building in Chile to obtain such a distinction.
Wellbeing and Sustainability
In line with Enel’s values, the new location sought from the beginning to provide its collaborators with spaces that would allow them to maximize their well-being, highlighting the commitment to sustainability and electrification.
The new headquarters of the company is located in a place of excellent connectivity (with direct access to the metro station and connection to Tobalaba L1 and L4), inserted in a four-tower project that will provide its users with multiple services such as banks, commerce, cultural spaces, outdoor work spaces, gastronomic offer , entertainment areas, among others.
The multiple advances and advanced technology that the MUT has make it the project with the highest standards in terms of sustainability that exist today in the country and for which, the contract of renewable energy signed with Enel contributes largely to the achievement of this objective thanks to the use of renewable sources such as wind, solar and hydroelectric.

In the design of the project, it was contemplated to provide it with intelligence and all the technology that would allow maximizing energy efficiency and care for the environment. For this purpose, today it is used water from the layers (without consuming water) for building air conditioning (geothermal air conditioning). Techniques that, together with other initiatives, achieve reduce energy consumption by 32%.
He irrigation of green areas will be done 100% with recycled or reused water. To do this, rainwater will be stored, environmental humidity will be captured and gray water will be recycled, which will allow a saving of 7 million liters per year. Solutions that add up to a biodigester, which will receive organic waste to transform it into biogas for kitchens and fertilizer for gardens.
This change of address closes a chapter of 55 years in which the then ENDESA erected one of the most iconic buildings in the capital’s architecture, whose exposed concrete was a novelty for those who stopped at Santa Rosa 76 to contemplate what was one of the most striking and sophisticated projects of the time by architects Luis Larraguibel, Gastón Etcheverry, Jorge Aguirre and Emilio Duhart.
