After successfully passing all the tests of the National Electrical Coordinator, aimed at ensuring the reliability of the facilities in terms of generation and safety for employees and the system.

The National Electrical Coordinator delivered the official authorization to Enel Chile to begin commercial operation of the El Manzano photovoltaic parkwhich, with a net installed power of 99 MW, will generate annually in the order of 226 GWh of 100% clean energy.

“At a time when the lack of transmission infrastructure generates difficulties for the use of renewable energy“We celebrate the reception of the commercial operation of El Manzano,” declared Fabrizio Barderi, general manager of Enel Chile.

Thanks to the operation of this new solar park, around 75 thousand homes will be able to be powered annually with renewable energy, avoiding the emission of around 182 thousand tons of CO2 per year.

In turn, Barderi explained that “being within the Metropolitan Region, it will inject the energy generated into the National Electric System, providing continuity to our strategy of bringing renewable energy closer to large consumption centers.”

El Manzano considered the implementation of 162 thousand bifacial type panelscutting-edge technology in the development of photovoltaic plants, which allows greater capture of solar radiation and, therefore, better generation profiles.

The El Manzano solar park, in line with the company’s hybridization strategy, also considers the incorporation of storage batteries (BESS) with a capacity of 67 MW 2h. The storage project is currently under development, with completion estimated during the first half of 2024.

This will be implemented by Enel Chile through its renewable energy development subsidiary Enel Green Power Chile, which is the leader in the country’s renewable energy market with a total net capacity of 2,822 MW throughout Chile.

Enel Green Power Chile has a diversified portfolio that includes wind energy (821 MW), solar energy (1,826 MW), hydroelectric energy (92 MW) and geothermal energy (83 MW). The company is in continuous growth, planning to increase its contribution to the national energy matrix thanks to the development of new renewable projects.
