Energy Police announces new statistics on thwarting oil derivatives smuggling operations

The General Directorate of Energy Police at the Ministry of Interior announced today, Wednesday, statistics on arrests and seizures of quantities prepared for smuggling for the month of August, while confirming a 98% decrease in smuggling and oil pipeline violations.

The Director General of the Energy Police, Major General Dhafer Nazmi Al-Hussaini, said in a statement to the (INA): “Within the activities of the Energy Police for the month of August 2024, 73 vehicles and tankers were seized, and 6 garages and smuggling locations were seized,” noting that “98 people were arrested for violating the law and they were all referred to the judicial authorities.”
Al-Hussaini stated that “the smuggling of 236 oil tankers and 2,175,660 liters was also prevented within the activities of the Energy Police Directorate for the month of August 2024.”
