He average price of light for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market It will fall 22.57% tomorrow Sunday compared to today Saturday, standing at 39.58 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), the lowest price in the last month, according to OMIE data. Specifically, the daily price of electricity will be the lowest so far in May and the minimum registered since April 16. Compensation for gas companies would be added to this average pool price, which must be paid by consumers who are beneficiaries of the measure, consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market , have an indexed rate, but for this Sunday it will be again at 0 euros/MWh, a situation that has been repeated since February 27.

The fall will be so important that, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., its cost will be 0 euros per megawatt hour. But that energy can become costless does not imply, in any case, that the electricity bill can cost zero euros also to the users because you will always have to pay fixed or regulated energy costs. These regulated costs represent between 55% and 60% of the total value of the invoice and they are identical for all users who have an electricity contract. Among these costs are the contracted power, which is the price we pay for the power we contract and that can be used; the access toll, the rental of equipment, which basically affects the electricity meter; incentives for renewable energy and remuneration for Red Eléctrica de España and OMIE. In addition, also other costs such as the tariff deficit, which has been paid to the electric companies for years to compensate for energy that they sold below its cost.

Added to these fixed costs is VAT, which is paid on the entire invoice; and the electricity tax.

The average price of electricity so far in May is around 79.75 euros/MWh, compared to the 192.50 euros/MWh that it registered in the same period last year; and will be at lower levels than those registered in neighboring countries. In France, the average price will be 59.36 euros/MWh; in Germany, 72 euros/MWh; in Italy, of 95.69 euros/MWh; and in the United Kingdom, 81.6 pounds/MWh (about 93 euros/MWh at the current exchange rate).
