Manchester: The Sri Lankan cricket team is touring England for a 3-match Test series. The first Test was played in Manchester. Sri Lanka scored 236 and England scored 358 in their respective first innings. After that, Nishan Madushka and Kusal Mendis were dugout in the Sri Lankan team which started the 2nd innings with a deficit of 122 runs. Angelo Mathews 65, Dhananjaya captain was out for 11 runs. At the end of the 3rd day, Sri Lanka had scored 204 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Chandimal 20, Kamindu Mendis 56 in the field.
On the 4th day yesterday, Kamindu Mendis scored 113 and Chandimal scored 79 and lost the match. They added 117 runs for the 7th wicket. Next Prabhat Jayasuriya 5, dugout Vishwa Fernando. Sri Lanka were all out for 326 in 90.3 overs. Chris Woakes and Matthew Potts took 3 wickets each in England’s bowling. Ben Duckett 11, Don Lawrence 34, Captain Ollie Pope 6, Harry Brook 32, Jamie Smith 39 were out for the England team that came into the field with a target of 205 runs.
Joe Root made 62 not out, Chris Woakes scored 8 runs and scored 205 for 5 in 57.2 overs as England won by 5 wickets. Jamie Smith who scored 111 runs in the first innings and 39 runs in the second innings won the man of the match award. With this win, England will take a 1-0 lead in the 2nd Test at Lord’s on the 29th.
