Southampton: Team India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma is going to the first match of the T20 series against England (ENG vs IND 1st T20I) today. The match is at 10.30 pm IST in Southampton. The toss will take place at The Rose Bowl Southampton at 10 am. The previous T20 record against England will give India hope ahead of the match.
India have the upper hand over England in T20. India have won 10 and England 9 of the 19 matches the two teams have faced so far. India and England have eight wins each in the series between the two groups. India won 3-2 in the last T20 series (March 2021). Moreover, the victory was with India in the last three series. Before last year’s series, Team India had won 2-1 each in 2017 and 2018. Southampton’s highest score in the last seven games is 165 runs. It is also characteristic that the team that batted first won all five.
India will face two teams full of big hitters in Southampton. It is interesting to note that the captain Rohit Sharma is returning to the Indian line-up after recovering from Covid-19.
