/ The Ministry of Transport and the General Company for Iraqi Ports announced on Sunday the docking of the newest ship, which is the largest in terms of its capacity, and entered the northern port of Umm Qasr for the first time, stressing the ability of its ports to receive and dock giant ships at its docks.

The Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company, Farhan Al-Fartousi, said in a statement that the northern Umm Qasr port received the ship (MSC Berangre) carrying about 2,659 containers, and it docked at Berths 14 and 15. It is the latest ship manufactured in 2023, and for the first time it enters Iraqi ports.

He added that the ship that docked at dawn today, Sunday, at the docks of the northern Umm Qasr port is the largest ship in terms of its capacity that has entered Iraqi ports, as its load capacity reaches 15,413 TEU containers, its length is about 366 meters, its width is 51 meters, and its draft reaches 17 meters, explaining that its weight capacity reaches about 149,944 tons of cargo.

It is noteworthy that the ship docked at Arab and international ports, having set sail with its cargo from China, coming from the port of Dammam, to dock at the end of its journey at the northern port of Umm Qasr.
