Prof. Amnon Shashua, CEO and founder of Mobilai, who started taking flight lessons, flew his second solo flight this morning (Sunday) and the helicopter crashed.

During takeoff, following very strong winds, the helicopter tilted to its side, and one of the landing skis got stuck in the mud and smashed the helicopter. Prof. Shashua was lightly injured, another flight student was also lightly injured, and two other passengers who were on the helicopter left unharmed. The MDA team that was called to the scene of the accident gave the professor first aid, and evacuated him to the airport in Herzliya by another helicopter that was staying at the scene.

Amusement said following the accident that “I imagine you heard I was in a helicopter crash this morning. It happened during my second solo flight. One of the landing skis got stuck in the mud and the helicopter overturned. I was not physically injured.”

Amnon Shashua (55) founded Mobilai, a company that manufactures protection systems for vehicles. In 2017, the company was sold to Intel Global in the largest exit known to Israel – in the amount of $ 15.3 billion, and Prof. Shashua was appointed vice president of Intel Global.
