Environment: Closure of the Drâa-Tafilalet Hydrostartup Bootcamp in Errachidia

Organized under the theme “Innovate for greater sustainability and resilience of our water resources”, this event, which lasted several weeks of preparation, research and training for the benefit of young project leaders and entrepreneurs, was initiated by the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Orange and in collaboration with several institutional partners.

According to the organizers, this stage, part of a series of regional bootcamps aimed at supporting 15,000 entrepreneurs as part of Entrepreneurship promotion services provided by ANAPEC, brought together, from September 9 to 29, more than 145 participants from the Drâa-Tafilalet region, including students, project leaders and entrepreneurs.

The closing ceremony of this event aimed at responding to the current challenges of the scarcity of water resources, was marked by the presence in particular of the Wali of the Draâ-Tafilalet region, governor of the province of Errachidia, Bouchâab Yahdih, of the director of the GIZ Morocco office, Kathrin Lorenz, representatives of the German embassy in Morocco, regional directors, elected officials and civil society actors.

In a statement to MAP, the main technical advisor of the “Promotion of youth employment in rural areas” project, Hannah Nickel indicated that the idea behind this Bootcamp is to bring together young people from the five provinces of the Drâa region. -Tafilalet to work together on projects focused on the theme of water stress facing Morocco.

The bootcamp aligns two aspects inherent to development, namely the treatment of the impact of water stress and drought on the local economy but also the aspect of job creation via the launch of businesses and the promotion of entrepreneurship, she explained.

She also insisted on the crucial role of regional partnerships which constitute a key factor for the success of such events, while expressing the hope of seeing the young people awarded at the end of this competition continue to develop more innovative solutions for overcome the challenges of water stress.

In a similar statement, the regional director of ANAPEC of Drâa-Tafilalet, Belmadani El Madani, noted that participants in the Hydrostartup Drâa-Tafilalet bootcamp on water rationalization and saving techniques benefited from several workshops supervised by renowned experts who have supported young people, particularly in terms of handling the technical aspects of their projects.

He also noted that this type of events undoubtedly contributes to the emergence of a generation of young innovative entrepreneurs, adding that ANAPEC remains fully committed to working in concert with all partners to ensure the development and the economic inclusion of young people.

This event, which is in line with the national strategy aimed at promoting the entrepreneurial spirit among young people and water conservation policies, intends to raise awareness among young people of the harmful repercussions of climate change and stimulate their spirit of “innovation and the design of solutions likely to overcome environmental challenges,” he said.

The closing ceremony was marked by the consecration of the three most innovative projects, namely AMAANE, RDT Smart and Oops. The leaders of these projects will benefit from comprehensive support including personalized mentoring, specialized training workshops and prototyping support to bring their ideas to life and test their viability in the field.

Encouragement prizes were also awarded to five projects, namely Ecocouvert bassin, Skamno, Chair Moustanbat, Barley Germine and Ard Salam. The organizers also awarded Favorite Prizes to two projects: Hy Smart and Qatra.

Organized under the aegis of the Wilaya of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, the event benefited from the support of the Regional Council, the Guir Ziz Rheris Hydraulic Basin Agency, the CRI Drâa-Tafilalet, the Energy Cluster, of the CGEM Drâa-Tafilalet, the ANDZOA, the ONCA, the OFPPT and the FST of Errachidia, which allowed a strong awareness among young people of the effects of climate change, as well as their encouragement to propose solutions for sustainable water management.
