The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) reported this Saturday that Phase I of the atmospheric environmental contingency due to ozone persists in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM).

This measure is maintained with the objective of safeguarding the health of the population and preventing exposure to elevated levels of ozonea pollutant that can seriously affect respiratory health.

According to the Mexico City Atmospheric Monitoring System, forecasts for today indicate that the high pressure system will continue to exert its influence on the ZMVM.

This situation, combined with weak winds of variable direction, will lead to stagnation of ozone precursors in the atmosphere.

In addition, intense solar radiation is expected and high temperatures around 30 degrees Celsiusas well as the formation of cloudiness in the afternoon, which could lead to moderate to heavy rains in isolation.

These climatic conditions are conducive to the formation of ozone, so it is estimated that the Air quality will remain in a range of Poor to Very Poor.

Given this situation, we reiterate the call to the population to stay informed about air quality and take the necessary precautions to protect their health.

Among the recommendations issued by the authorities are avoiding outdoor activities, especially those of a civic, cultural and recreational nature, as well as intense physical exercise between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., a period in which levels pollution are usually higher.

It is important that citizens become aware of the importance of caring for the environment and adopting measures to reduce the emission of pollutants, such as using public transport, sharing vehicles or using alternative means of transport such as bicycles.
