A decrease in hospitalizations and intubations of patients with coronavirus was recorded in the week of February 5 to 11, while positivity for influenza in the community is increasing, which is moving at levels above 10%.

According to the epidemiological data of the EODY, in the last week there were 40 deaths of patients with coronavirus, with a median age of 85 years, as well as 8 new deaths from laboratory-confirmed influenza.

With regard to the coronavirus, the positivity in all samples showed a slight decrease compared to the previous week. A 40% drop from the average weekly number of imports over the previous four weeks, the number of imports showed.

The number of new intubations has also decreased, as the number of patients with Covid-19 who are hospitalized with intubation stands at 34.

It is pointed out that the most frequent sub-variant of BA.2 was JN.1 (68%) followed by EG.5 (21%), while the surveillance of the viral load in municipal wastewater showed a decrease in virus circulation in 8 of the 9 areas checked.

Flu: Ten serious cases with hospitalization in ICU
Influenza positivity in the community remains above 10% and showed an increase from last week. According to the EODY, ten new serious cases with hospitalization in ICU were recorded, as well as eight new deaths from laboratory-confirmed influenza.

From autumn until today, 118 people with laboratory-confirmed influenza have been hospitalized in the ICU, while 45 have died.

During the same period, 397 strains of influenza have been typed, of which 392 (99%) were type A and 5 (1%) were type B.

Finally, with regard to influenza – ILI, the number of cases per 1,000 visits showed a decrease, while the number of cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) showed a slight increase. In relation to respiratory syncytial virus – RSV, positivity in the community showed a slight increase compared to the previous week.
