Epic Games, creator of Fortnite, should launch 20 games based on NFTs
CriptoFácil – Fortnite developer Epic Games is preparing to add a large amount of cryptocurrency games to its market in the next two years.
According to company executive Steve Allison, Epic Games currently has 5 cryptocurrency-based games on its platform, with plans to expand that number to nearly 20 between 2023 and 2024, although none of them are developed or published by Epic itself.
Blankos Block Party, the first cryptocurrency-based game, was released by Web3 studio Mythical Games.
The title is a free multiplayer party game in which players can explore maps created by other users and creative game modes, while collecting and customizing their own digital vinyl toys called “Blankos”.
Allison, head of the Epic Games Store, mentioned that both Blankos Block Party and Core, a metaverse platform, have been well received by players.
The company intends to learn more about the potential of the cryptocurrency and NFT gaming market as more titles are released on its platform.

Despite some challenges faced by the blockchain gaming industry, such as falling prices for NFTs and Crypto Blades, DappRadar reports that investments in blockchain games and metaverse projects are off to a good start in 2023.
Epic Games is being careful to maintain financial distance from cryptocurrency games in its market. Publishers are responsible for aspects like transactions, customer service, and refunds, while Epic monitors security, as explained by Allison.
The company is aware of the reputational risks associated with some cryptocurrency projects and will therefore take a hard-nosed stance towards any “bad behavior” on the part of game developers.
This move by Epic Games shows the growing interest in the market for games based on cryptocurrencies and NFTs. With the launch of 20 new games planned for the next two years, the company hopes to strengthen its position in the industry and offer gamers an innovative experience.
