On June 25, 2025, the popular rock festival Tons of Rock will take place at Ekebergsletta in Oslo.
Earlier this fall, it was confirmed that several big artists such as Kaizers Orchestra and Green Day will be performing at the annual festival.
On Tuesday morning, a total of 22 new bands were announced that will be seen at Tons of Rock, including Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, and Megadeth.

Booking manager Jarle Kvåle stated in a press release that they are extremely proud to present Muse at this year’s festival.
– It is a dream band for us, and an exclusive booking that we know will delight many. We have been trying to get Avenged Sevenfold for many years, and it is absolutely fantastic that they are finally coming to us, Kvåle writes and adds:
– When we can also announce 20 other huge bands including the legendary Megadeth and Machine Head, this is a historically strong lineup, says a proud booking manager Jarle Kvåle.
Tons of Rock is considered the country’s largest festival. In 2024, the festival set an attendance record with 150,000 visitors from 80 countries.

Jarle Kvåle: Thank you for having me! It’s great to be here to discuss what we have in store for the festival in 2025.
Interviewer: Let’s dive right into it! The lineup for Tons of Rock 2025 looks incredible, featuring big names like Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, and Megadeth. Can you tell us how it feels to finally book these iconic bands?
Jarle Kvåle: It’s a dream come true for us! We’ve been working hard to secure these artists for years. Booking Muse is particularly exciting for us—it’s an exclusive engagement that we’re convinced will thrill our attendees. Avenged Sevenfold was also a long-time goal, and to have them finally performing is absolutely fantastic.
Interviewer: That’s so exciting! You mentioned that booking Muse is a “dream band” for the festival. What makes their addition to the lineup particularly special?
Jarle Kvåle: Muse is known for their electrifying performances and powerful music. They have a huge following, and their sound resonates with a diverse audience. Having them at Tons of Rock not only enhances the festival’s appeal but also solidifies our reputation as a top-tier event for rock music lovers.
Interviewer: Speaking of the festival’s reputation, Tons of Rock was the largest in Norway last year, with an attendance record of 150,000 from 80 countries. What do you think makes this festival so appealing to such a wide audience?
Jarle Kvåle: I believe it’s the blend of our stellar lineups, the beautiful setting of Ekebergsletta, and the overall atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration among fans. We bring together both legendary acts and fresh talent, which attracts a wide range of music lovers. Plus, Norway is a fantastic place to experience music during the summer!
Interviewer: Absolutely! With 22 new bands announced recently, how do you curate the lineup? What do you look for when selecting which artists to invite?
Jarle Kvåle: We strive for a balance between established icons and emerging talents. We look for artists who not only have a strong body of work but also create an engaging live performance. It’s critical to listen to our audience and understand what they want to experience, while also including surprises that make the festival memorable.
Interviewer: With such a vast array of bands and styles, do you think there’s a particular theme or vibe for this year’s festival?
Jarle Kvåle: This year, I believe the theme is all about celebrating rock in its many forms. With heavy hitters like Megadeth and Machine Head joining the lineup, alongside diverse acts like Green Day and the indie sound of Muse, fans can expect a rich experience full of varied sounds and energy.
Interviewer: That sounds like a fantastic experience! Is there anything else attendees can look forward to besides the amazing lineup?
Jarle Kvåle: Absolutely! Apart from the music, we always work to enhance the overall festival experience. There will be food stalls featuring local cuisine, art installations, and various activities to engage attendees when they’re not catching their favorite bands. It’s all about creating a festival atmosphere that leaves lasting memories.
