The question of the introduction of a charming vaccination against coronavirus and the introduction of vaccination in the corresponding calendar is still rather rhetorical and has yet to be studied. This opinion on Wednesday, November 10, “Izvestia” was expressed by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, epidemiologist Vadim Pokrovsky.

“This question needs to be studied – what vaccine, when and how,” he explained.

The expert emphasized that the vaccination calendar lists at what age and to whom to vaccinate. While the properties of all vaccines against coronavirus, in particular the duration of their action, have not been fully studied, it is too early to talk about the inclusion of vaccines against COVID-19 in this list.

Pokrovsky also noted that, on average, the known effect of vaccines is six months, and therefore, in order to defeat the coronavirus pandemic in the world, in addition to large-scale vaccination, a set of measures must be observed, including wearing masks, observing quarantines and interrupting communication with those countries where outbreaks of infection occur.

Also on Wednesday, the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that 4.5 million citizens have already been re-vaccinated against coronavirus. More than 62 million people have been vaccinated with the first component, and 53% of the country’s adult population have been fully vaccinated.

The director of the Gamaleya Research Center, Alexander Gintsburg, in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, published earlier on the same day, said that the COVID-19 vaccine should be included in the national vaccination calendar, and the vaccination itself should be made mandatory. The pandemic will end when 70-75% of the world’s population is vaccinated, he added.

Against the background of a worsening epidemiological situation, the Russian authorities are urging residents to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
