Blood donors are currently urgently needed as many supplies have been used up due to the summer holidays. A special campaign by Wacken Open Air at the University Hospital of Hamburg is intended to help here.
Many heavy metal fans have participated in a joint campaign by Wacken Open Air and the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Anyone interested can donate blood in the UK from 10am to 4pm. In addition to live music, guests are able to spin the Wacken Foundation’s Wheel of Fortune after their donation and thus have the opportunity to receive a limited edition shirt, as the organizers announced.

Every year, around 40,000 units of blood are needed at UKE for operations, emergency care or to treat chronic diseases. At the same time, only 27,000 blood donations were received, he said. “Many people rely on blood supplies at the hospital, but less than two percent of donors are in Hamburg,” said UKE.
