Arrangements were made to stand in front of the Finance Minister to read the financial statement for the year 2023-2024. When the Finance Minister started his speech, the AIADMK got involved. However, the Finance Minister continued to read the budget.

Opposition leader Edappadi Palaniswami, who met the media after walking out of the Legislative Assembly, said, “During the 23 months of DMK rule, they have presented the budget 3 times. They have increased taxes in three budget submissions. In 23 months of rule, they have already borrowed one and a half lakh crore rupees.

The plan has been announced; Necessary funds were not allocated for the project. No plan implemented. But they say they have reduced the fiscal deficit. GST, Excise duty has gone up. Deed registration, petrol, diesel, road tax has increased. Tax revenue has gone up. The deficit should be zero. But it is funny to say that the deficit has been reduced to 30 thousand crores. This year the funds allocated for the backward Adhi Dravida people have been reduced compared to last year. This is reprehensible.

They said that 1000 rupees is given to everyone as a right amount for a daughter. But now they select eligible housewives and say 1000 rupees per month. On what basis do you decide eligibility? 7000 crores have been allocated in the budget. If so, can you give it to around 1 crore people? Even that doesn’t seem right. Overall, it is a budget that deceives the people,” he said.
